In the past Centuries the hill of Castenedolo has been one of the preferred destinations for the rich and aristocratic families of the city in order to pass the summer period, enjoying the rural quiet of the vineyards and the breeze coming from the south and from the Appenins.

Unknown before 1400, the Marzemino grapes appear in the northern part of Italy, in some areas of the Veneto region and the Brescia province, on the hills around Brescia and in a small part around Lake Garda. Is probably most noted for its mention in the opera "Don Giovanni" of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, where the titular character Don Giovanni calls out for a glass of Marzemino just before his deliverance to hell ("Versa il vino! Eccellente Marzemino!").

Wine of strong impact, fermentation is at a controlled temperature between 22° and 25° in stainless steel tanks with a long time over the skin to absorb its typical colour and perfume. The careful and meticulous care in the vineyard and in the cellar allowed this wine to have a low content of histamine (less than 0,5mg/liter) as indicated in the "Low Histamines ® research".

Grapes: 100% Marzemino.

Produced since: 1999. Starting from 2021 produced with Low Histamines protocol.

Colour: dark ruby red with some purple reflections typical of the grapes
perfume, persistent, clean with some smell of mature red fruit, strawberry, berries, raspberry and currant.

Taste: full taste, dry, warm, delicate thanks to the typical characteristic of this grape.

Bottle Size: 750 ml.

Alcohol content: 12,5% Vol.

Service temperature: 16°C/61-64°F. Thanks to the low level of tannins, it's pleasant also to be served a little bit chilled.

Matching: its structure makes it perfect for flavoursome starters, egg pasta (tortellini, fettuccine, tagliatelle,...) with mushrooms and roasted chicken. To try also with roasted chestnut, a typical autumnal habit in various italian areas.
