Description

Vinitaly International Academy (VIA) is the Italian wine education gold standard, a study path which aims to train competent and professional figures, such as Italian Wine Ambassadors, who can promote Italian wine all over the world. The course is aimed at wine professionals (journalists, educators, sommeliers, Masters of Wine, importers, buyers, etc.): we require that our students have previous training in wine and/or significant experience in the sector.The 30th VIA edition will take place in IWine | Dostyk Avenue, 109/1 – Almaty, Kazakhstan, from November 16th to 18th, 2024.

ACADEMY FOCUS

The focuses of the Academy are:

• An in-depth knowledge of native Italian vines, their production and winemaking and the style of the wines obtained.
• The study of the main denominations and their pedoclimatic characteristics;
•  Regional history, food and culture.

ACADEMY ORGANIZATION

The Academy consists of two phases of study and in-depth analysis:

•  Phase 1 - Independent study: in total autonomy, students can study the Academy topics before carrying out in-person lessons thanks to the video lessons recorded by the VIA Faculty and available on the e-learning platform;
•  Phase 2 - In-person tasting sessions (2 days): students will have the opportunity to discuss the topics covered in the video lessons with the Faculty and to taste a selection of wines that allow them to put the theoretical concepts already learned into practice.

EXAM

During the morning of the third day, students will take the final exam divided into three written tests: 

• Blind tasting of 2 wines;
• Two open questions with short answers;
• 100 multiple choice questions.
• Students will also present a group video project as part of the exam. The topic to be covered and the delivery times of the project will be defined by the Faculty and communicated to participating students in due course.

PARTICIPATION IN THE ACADEMY AND ACCESS TO THE E-LEARNING PLATFORM

Following a careful evaluation of each candidate's application, the results of the selection are communicated to each applicant privately via e-mail.

The registration fee is:

• €600: for new students;
• €300: for those who wish to take part in the Academy again despite having already participated in a previous edition;
• €100: for those who have already participated in an edition of the VIA and wish to repeat only the exam without participating in the course again and without renewing access to the online study platform.
